Kind words about my books Library Lost and Maya and the Book of Everything are always appreciated, but when they come exactly at the right time, it is even better. So it was with my blogging friend Sheryl of Flowery Prose, a master gardener and writer from Calgary Alberta, Canada. Connecting with people from afar is a wonderful example of the joys of blogging. Readers, if you haven’t checked out Flowery Prose, then please do.
Sheryl recently wrote a review of Library Lost. As for the timing…this book has been published for six months, which means the flurry of its arrival has subsided. I am in the middle of writing Out of Time, the next book in my Great Library Series. While it might be an exaggeration to state this is a “dark night of the soul” phase for me, I am definitely in the Oh-my-God-how-am-I-going-to-get-to-the-end phase. I know where I went to go. I’m just not sure how I am going to get there. A good metaphor for life in general, don’t you think?
Here is some of what Sheryl wrote, used with permission.
The fate of the Great Library – the source of all of the knowledge and information in the universe – remains at stake in Library Lost. As Time and Chaos battle for such a powerful and valuable prize, other players have their own agendas. It’s up to our smart, strong teenage heroine, Maya, and her allies to stay out of danger and initiate a plan to save the Library. Unfortunately, the best-laid plans don’t always pan out the way they should, and the result is an engaging, action-packed (and magical!) adventure with brilliant pacing and and an exquisitely detailed and realized setting.
Many thanks, Sheryl! And onward, ho for me.
A wonderful review! Just what I would have said had I been as good a writer as both you and Sheryl are.
A-w-w-w, thanks, Gayle!
How nice to read a review like that of ones work.
It was indeed!
A good review is indeed a tonic.
Yes, a tonic! And much needed right now.
I have complete faith in you, Laurie – you’ll do it well and with style. 🙂
I’ve learned to trust the process, but at this point in the book, I feel as though I’m in the middle of a vast ocean with no land in sight. Onward, ho! 😉
Trust the process, indeed. That’s the only way. All you can do is to sit down and do it and then go back and change everything. : I
xoxoxo
I do trust the process. Still, there are moments of panic. Now and then. 😉
What a great review Laurie, congratulations…& nothing like getting such positive feedback from another writer… that will keep you going through the book you are writing now. 😀👌
It surely is!
What lovely encouragement! Good luck with ‘Out of Time’.
Yes, yes! Many thanks.
Congrats on such a positive review
Just when I needed it most!
Wonderful!
Yes, yes!
That review must be a great encouragement to get you through your ‘how am I going to get to the end phase’.
It really is!
I saw Sheryl’s review – very gratifying, I imagine.
Sure was! Came just at the right time as I’m far out to sea with my current book. 😉
Congratulations on the great review. I’m a follower of Sheryl as well.
Thanks so much! What a lovely circle of blogging friends.
That’s a well worded and much deserved review. Keep at it, my friend.
Hugs to you.
A-w-w-w! Thanks so much!
❤
Hope the wonderful review and waiting audience gives you inspiration through this phase.🙂
Many thanks!
Congratulations on the great review, Laurie!
Thanks, Lavinia!
Sounds like one I should read. Will get my act together after vacation and order a copy.
Many thanks! Have a wonderful vacation.
Such a lovely review Laurie and sometimes it’s good to take a little break from the book writing and create some space for the way forward to show 🙂💖🌺 xxx
Lovely. Sheryl is such a great blogger and writer. She’s also a library professional, so she knows her books, and when she gives you the thumbs up, it means a lot! Way to go, Maya! Way to go, Laurie.
Thanks, Cynthia. And I feel the same way when you give my work a thumbs-up.
