For six years, I dodged the COVID bullet, but I knew that one day it would catch up with me, and so it has. On Monday, I started having symptoms; on Tuesday, I was in full swing with a stuffy nose, a sore throat, a dry cough, and a woozy head. Clif bought a COVID test, and sure enough, it confirmed my suspicions. Yesterday I felt a little better, and today I feel better still. So I’m cautiously optimistic that I have a mild case.
Still, I need some time off to rest and recover.
What kind of darned virus goes around in the summer? COVID does, I guess.
I’m hoping Dee and Clif don’t get it, but this virus is so contagious that I suspect they will.
Anyway, I’ll be back when I feel better.
But to leave on a high note, here are some pictures of my August Garden in the front yard.
See you in a week or so!

Your gardens are beautiful. I wish I could bring you some soup!
A-w-w, what a kind thought! Thanks so much.
Dratted COVID!!!! I hope you will continue to improve Laurie – and spend some of your ‘off’ time in your lovely garden 🙂 🙂
Thanks, Anne! Right now, the living room couch is where I want to rest, but I’m feeling better, and soon I will be outside.
I’m so sorry to hear that. i have managed to dodge the bullet so far but i realize my days are numbered.
yes, definitely take the time to rest. Perhaps in your beautiful garden? thanks for taking the time to send pic’s even when not feeling well.
Hope you continue to dodge the bullet. Darned virus! Thanks for the kind words about the garden.
The gardens are looking beautiful. The first time I had COVID I slept a lot and couldn’t think. Take a lot of rest and make the others serve you with regular drinks and nutritious meals. Give in to the sleep – you need it to heal. Good luck with it.
Thanks so much for your kind words of advice. I have been napping a lot. But, my, doesn’t food taste funny. Either there is no taste or a bitter overtone.
Yes, some people report the lack of taste, or a metallic taste, at the start, but I missed it until my second go with COVID. Can’t say I noticed it in the first one. But as I was asleep for most of that one, it may just have slept through the taste symptoms.
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. Make sure you get lots of rest, and be prepared for food tasting weird. When I got COVID, for days nothing I ate tasted like it should have done. Strange but true
You are so right about food tasting strange. Very common for COVID, I understand. I have been taking lots of naps. Not much energy to do anything else.
Rest up! And what a gorgeous place to recover in!
A-w-w, thanks so much! I have been taking lots of naps.
The garden is indeed looking lovely, thanks for sharing pics. Definitely rest, even when you are feeling better. This virus has a significant relapse factor!! Hope the rest of the household stays covid-free.
Thanks, Ginny! I will be on the lookout for a relapse. Fingers crossed for the rest of the household. Unfortunately, their chances of catching it seem pretty high.
Aw, bummer, just when you begin to relax in public… snap! Get well soon, take it easy!
Yup! Darned virus. Feeling better with each passing day.
We dodged it for years as well, but I guess it catches us all in the end. Hope it passes quickly and you’re feeling better soon.
Those lovely gardens should help.
😊
Thanks, Rivergirl! Yes, we can only dodge it for so long. I have been expecting to catch it sooner or later, and now I have.
August has brought beautiful colours to your garden, Laurie.
Sorry to hear about Covid. Rest well and take care.
Thanks, Rupali! I have been resting well and am feeling better.
I hope your recovery is quick. When I had it, I wore a mask 24/7, and no one else in the family got it. I will say wearing a mask 24/7 is challenging.
Thanks, Judy! How awful it must have been to feel so poorly and then wear a mask. I have been coughing, sneezing, and blowing my nose. Can’t imagine doing all of that with a mask on. I admire your fortitude.
Get well soon!
Wishing you a speedy recovery Laurie and your garden looks amazing! 💛 xxx
Thanks so very much!
Get well soon! At least you have your beautiful garden to enjoy.
Many thanks! Am thinking of spending some time outside this afternoon.
Don’t rush to be up and at ’em again. Take time x
Hard advice for me to follow, but I will do my best to get plenty of rest.
Hour by hour, day by day! I got mine when in hospital for something else! A week ‘not funny’, another week feeling like a sluggish snail . . . if you are feeling a tad better . . . the worst is over . . . try to ‘enjoy’ the compulsory rest 🙂 !
Oh, Eha! So sorry to read about how sick you were when you had Covid. Damned virus!
You’ve got me worried now. We dodged COVID too and I had almost forgotten about it until you reminded me. We have had our jabs though, so we hope that we are protected.
I hope that you recover speedily and haven’t passed it on.
Fingers crossed that you and Mrs. Tootlepedal remain Covid free! Feeling better every day and so far, so good for Dee and Clif.
Good news.
Feel better soon Laurie! Hopefully symptoms will remain mild – but rest rest rest! Even mild is exhausting!
Thanks, Ju-Lyn! Yes, mild is exhausting. I have been getting plenty of rest and have been drinking lots of water.
Your garden looks so beautiful. And I hope that you heal soon and wow I can’t believe you didn’t get Covid sooner that’s pretty amazing but I hope that you recover 100%
Many thanks! Six years is pretty darned good, but I suspected that sooner or later I would get it. Now is the time, I guess.
Well you must be in great shape – xxx
Plus we were very careful.
🤍🤍☔️
Sorry about the umbrella emoji lol
It’s been so long since I’ve heard anyone mention Covid; I’d nearly forgotten it. I’m so sorry it came to visit you! I hope your case does turn out to be mild and short-lived!
According to CNN, August is Covid month, and that damned virus is on the rise across the United States. I am cautiously optimistic that I do have a mild case. Feeling better every day and am thinking of spending some time in my backyard this afternoon.
I’m sorry you’re under the weather, Laurie. I hope the rest of the family stays healthy.
Thanks, Alys! So far the family is fine, but it would be miraculous if they somehow managed to dodge the Covid bullet.
Get well soon, my friend XX
Thanks so much, Derrick! Feeling better today every day.
Oh no! Feel better soon Laurie ❤️🩹
Thanks, Mary! I do feel better but am still low energy.
Rest my friend, just rest!
Thanks so much! I have been getting lots of rest and have been drinking plenty of water.
Be well!
Feel better soon!
Thanks! Finally on the other side.
Hope you’re better Laurie and that it hasn’t spread!
Feeling much better but unfortunately Clif now has it.
Damn!
Sigh.
I am so sorry to hear that you are ill Laurie but hope you are recovering. Your garden is lovely and I hope it brings you pleasure even if you can only look at it through a window. Get well soon.
Many thanks! I’m feeling much better and am back to my usual schedule, a very good thing.
I hope you feel better soon, Laurie. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Xx
Thanks, Jacqui! Feeling much better, but it was a rough couple of weeks.
Beautiful photos, Laurie. I do hope you are feeling better by now. Sending lots of love your way.
Thanks, Jodie! Feeling better now but it was a rough two weeks. And I had a mild case.
My husband had it and almost had me take him to the hospital. I know it can be brutal. xo
Ours were mild cases, and we felt pretty rotten for a week or so. I can only imagine what a more severe case would feel like.
What a pain to get COVID after dodging it all these year! Hopefully it will just be a mild case and you will continue to feel better… and Dee and Clif don’t get it.
the flowers in your garden are delightful
Yup, a pain is right. It was a mild case but no fun. Two weeks of not feeling well. But I am on the other side and hope to be back to my regular schedule on Monday.
two weeks is a long time, Laurie.
Yes, a long two weeks. Still, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse.
