Funny – I grew up with retrievers, and they would wander into the Maine lakes for a cool off swim on their own as they pleased. Then 5 years ago we adopted a German Shepherd looking hound mix and she cant even bear to get her feet wet on the morning grass. It took me years of trying to get her to swim to realize that all dogs are NOT water dogs.
Yes, indeed. Some dogs like water, and others don’t. Our Liam, a Sheltie, hates even to get his feet wet, the same as your dog.
