Thanks, Xenia. Sometimes you get lucky, but to paraphrase Louis Pasteur: Chance only favors the prepared mind. ๐
Brilliant pic – itโs so hard to get a good pic of fast movers ๐ฟ
Oh well done Laurie that photo speaks for itself … the beginning of a little story…. & very hard to capture birds and darting squirrels!
Sheer luck! I was aiming for the bird and didn’t know the squirrel was there until I downloaded the picture. How about that?
To raid the bird feeder of course!
Fun photo! I always enjoy pics of squirrels!
They are fun to watch and photograph.
Lucky to capture this! Lovely.
Lucky to capture this! Lovely.
Lucky is right! Didn’t even know the squirrel was there when I took the picture.
๐ Love the little pops of red maple flowers above them. They remind me of party decorations. ๐
Wonderful description, Eliza. Spring is a kind of party, isn’t it?
It sure is!
Maple blossoms are always a favorite. I’ve seen squirrels eat them. Maybe your squirrel has some fine dining in mind! ๐
How long did you have to sit with the camera pointed at the tree to get that photo? Or was it sheer luck?
Sheer luck! In truth, I didn’t even know the squirrel was there when I took the picture. I was aiming for the bird. Only when I downloaded the photos did I notice the squirrel. Fun!
Lovely spring photo and even the birds are feeling lonely!
They are!
Clever title and photo! โค
Excellent shot, Laurie! What is the bird? I see the squirrel high-tailing it to commit mischief, no doubt.
An eastern phoebe, I think. I have a hard time telling them apart from flycatchers.
Thank you, Laurie. I have trouble with sorting out some birds, too.
I have a love hate relationship with squirrels – they damage the trees, pinch the hazel nuts and scatter them so that I have to weed saplings out of my veg beds, but they are so cute!
Squirrels are considered a nuisance here, too, but they are welcome in my yard especially as we have rigged the feeders so they are not easily raided by the little creatures.
That’s a lovey capture. A good dash of red always works magic. ๐
And that dash of red is only there for a short time. Makes it all the more precious.
Good shot. Very hard to get good candid shots of birds if they’re not at a bird feeder.
Thanks, Jason. Unlike flowers, they will not stay still for me to get a good picture.
I only saw the squirrel. Until I read the comments I didn’t realise there was a bird there!

Well snapped, I saw him/her eventually.
Thanks, Susan!
