Thankful Thursday: In Brief

Yesterday, I had a Covid booster, and I am feeling a little under the weather today. It’s nothing serious, but my energy level is way down, and I’m going to spend most of the day on the couch, where I’ll alternate between reading and napping.

Nevertheless, I am very grateful for science and medicine and booster shoots. Wouldn’t want to live in a world without them. In fact, as a breast cancer survivor, I wouldn’t be here without them.

Next week, there will be a regular Thankful Thursday post.

Now, back to the couch.

  1. Great minds, thinking alike. I got my annual flu shot yesterday, so we were getting poked at nearly the same time. That’s the only vaccination I regularly get, but I certainly remember my shingles series from last year. It gave me a couple of days of feeling poorly-to-odd, so you have my sympathy!

  2. Hear, hear re COVID boosters! COVID seems to be running rampant these days, although thankfully not as serious a strain as previous iterations (for most people).

  3. Our younger son has just caught Covid and is feeling a bit poorly too. We won’t get our boosters until next month so we are keeping our fingers crossed meanwhile.

  4. I’m getting my COVID booster tomorrow. I’m thinking about being ready for that conference I’m attending in two weeks. I’m glad to see you are already feeling better!

  5. I hope you’re feeling bright and chipper tomorrow. I haven’t gone to get the latest booster yet. I am sad because my pharmacy closed last month and I don’t know where my favorite pharmacist went. She was SOOOO good at giving shots! Now I have to go to a crowded (because everyone moved their stuff to the new place) pharmacy and have someone I don’t know do it. 😦

  6. Laurie, I’m sorry you had a reaction to the booster. We had our boosters yesterday, along with the seasonal flu shot. I’m with you on science and the marvel of modern medicine. I hope you’re back to yourself soon.

  7. “Rest is best” when you’re feeling poorly, particularly if you can intersperse your naps with chapters from a good book. Take care, Laurie, and stay safe.

  8. I hope you’re soon feeling fighting fit (without the fighting, need I say?) I remember how truly thankful I was when the vaccinations were first available. We all owe so much not just to those who worked on them, but to the people who tried out the first ones.

  9. I got it too (before our trip out West). My arm hurt for a bit. Then on Wednesday I got the new flu shot. I didn’t want to get both at once, even though my husband and daughter did. Hope you’re feeling all better today.

  10. Great minds run on the same track! I got my COVID shot on Wednesday and like you, spent much of the rest of the day recovering. I suffered through chills, achy arm, and malaise for the better part of Thursday, but by Friday, I was better (except for a red, itchy spot where they administered the shot). Take good care, Laurie. As you said, science and technology are wonderful, and I’m glad these shots are available.

    1. I think we had the same kind of day yesterday, right down to the chills and achy arm. Today, all better, and I am glad to read you are, too. Yes, so glad these shots are available. One day of feeling funky is a small price to pay.

  11. I have just booked my winter flu / covid vaccination. I haven’t reacted before and hope I don’t this time. You were very wise to stay on the couch and let your body rest – hope you are feeling better now.

    1. Thanks so much! I felt much better on Friday. One day of the blahs is more than worth the protection I will get from the vaccine. Hope you continue not to have any reactions.
